Encore Performance, How One Woman’s Passion Helped a Town Tap Into Happiness (Atria Books). Co authors Vicki G. Riordan and Brian S. Riordan
“Riordan took what life gave her and put on a show!” – CBS Sunday Morning
At 62, Vicki G. Riordan created America’s largest adult tap program, inspiring over 500 women to get up and dance — no matter their age. Riordan didn’t go back to teaching dance because she wanted to write a book, or create America’s largest anything, or change anyone’s life except her own. She started teaching dance again because she needed to make ends meet and survive at a time when she was very low. Dance was the one thing she knew. Her dancing had already helped her when she was graduating high school and didn’t know what to do next. Now dance was going to save her all over again — only it wasn’t just Vicki this time, it was her boys too.
This is Vicki’s story, but it’s also the story of some of these amazing women – and a handful of men – who have come along with her for the ride. They were once the ones who wondered if they were running out of time but, as it turns out, the best was yet to come.
