The 3R Project Story
Founded and created by single mother Vicki G. Riordan and her son, Brian Riordan, The 3R Project is focused on helping other single mothers who may not have a safe place to turn for support. The name of this supporting organization is inspired by Vicki and her two boys (the 3 Riordans) and represents the focus and strength that Vicki had while raising her family and receiving no child support. Vicki was able to rely on her skills as a dance instructor to create a small part-time dance business in 1986 to supplement her income and keep her children safe, focused and happy.

Vicki’s Tap Pups is a key driver to help promote and support key 3R Project initiatives through the contagious energy and happiness they deliver through tap.

The YWCA of Greater Harrisburg’s Domestic Violence Shelter
The domestic violence shelter is a 16-bed, 30-day shelter serving women and children who are fleeing violent relationships in Dauphin County. The shelter is a safe place for these women and their children. There are 4 bedrooms with 4 beds in each room. There are 2 living rooms, dining areas and kitchens, which are communal living spaces, and are shared with several residents at any given time. Due to the high turnover of victims, and a lack of funding, the furniture is sparse and worn. There are no comfortable extras that make the shelter area feel like a home.
