Encore Performance Book Launch, Tuesday, April 3

ENCORE PERFORMANCE – HOW ONE WOMAN’S PASSION HELPED A TOWN TO TAP INTO HAPPINESS

Billy Elliot meets The Golden Girls in this inspiring true story of a woman who learned that it’s never too late to live the life you want. As a young girl, Vicki Riordan found her calling as a tap dancer and at eighteen she opened her own studio. But Vicki soon decided to put her tap shoes into early retirement to focus on marriage and start a family. When her marriage abruptly ended and Vicki was left with no means to support herself and her two young sons, she returned to her passion and began teaching adult tap. The Tap Pups program was born and at the age of sixty-two, Vicki opened what has become the largest adult tap studio in America.

Vicki has gone from teaching seventeen adults to 500. Her students range in age from twenty-one to eighty-nine (with an average age of fifty-seven), and thanks to the Tap Pups program many have transformed and reinvented themselves at a point in life when the expectation is that they should be slowing down. Tap has made them confident in their bodies and themselves and has joined the women of Vicki’s community into an unbreakable sisterhood.

Encore Performance is ripe with themes that readers everywhere can relate to: love, family, friendship, living your dream, keeping hope alive in difficult times, and so much more. Vicki’s story celebrates the importance of remembering your true passion, going after it with courage, and proving that it’s never too late to live the life you want.

Note From Vicki:
As many of you might know, my book is now available for advanced orders on Amazon.com ; they will ship the book to you directly as soon as it is launched. Some of you mentioned to me that you have already made purchases, but I wanted to send along a recommendation from Amy, my editor at Simon & Schuster. Apparently, advanced copies that are sold also count toward the first week’s purchases, which is how a book gets on the New York Times Best Seller list (I can’t believe that I just typed the words, “New York Times Best Seller list”--this is totally bizarre.) However, if anyone does plan on ordering more than one copy, will you please order one book at a time, per order. If you order two or more books per order, that will only count towards the Best Seller list as having sold “one” book. The reason being: Years ago they learned that movie stars, and people with lots of extra money, would purchase 50,000 of their own book so they could be on the best seller list - knowing that it’s only the first week’s orders that count for this list. Those same people would not place 50,000 individual orders. Right or wrong, this is the system. I thank you in advance to anyone wanting to purchase my book!!!
