Tap Pup since 2006

How long have you been tapping?

I started dance class at 4 years old.  I became serious about tap dancing in high school, when I was able to join a tap group that danced on the Steel Pier in AC for 2 weeks each summer. As an adult, I continued to take tap lessons on and off until I was fortunate enough to find VIcki in 2006.

So, I guess I have tap danced for over half of my life!!

What was your first dance school?
Nancy Lee's School of Dance in Pittsburgh, Pa.

I was a student of tap, ballet, jazz and baton through my high school years and ballet through college.

Who is your favorite tap dancer?

I enjoy watching old movies with Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. My favorite, because of his style of tap, is Gene Kelly.

What is your favorite thing about teaching Tap Pups?

The great feeling I get when I see the excitement on the face of a new Tap Pup, who is either making that very first tap sound or who has finally mastered a step they had been working so hard on.

What is your best advice for a brand new Tap Pup?

Relax-Have fun-Make noise!!!

Never lose sight of 'why' you wanted to be a Tap Pup in the first place!

And, you WILL have a 'click week'. Everyone will experience that moment when it all comes together at a different time. Just be patient.

What does Happiness Through Tap mean to you?

Knowing that when I walk into the studio and put on my tap shoes, all the  stress of my everyday life will disappear. I can shut out everything else and just concentrate on the sound of my taps and the music.

Also, when I am tapping, I know I am with friends who share the same passion for dance as I do.

Not to mention, the great exercise!!!

That is HAPPINESS!!!
